We are 8 months in on this adventure in parenthood, and I have come to rely on a few specific products that simply make life better. From mealtime to naptime, these are a few of our favorite things!
Aveeno Eczema Therapy Nighttime Balm - This cream isn't greasy like some of the others we have tried and it really cleared up Lil's skin within a week or so. The scent isn't overwhelming and she loves getting her mini massage after bathtime. Babylit Books - These board books are not only clever renditions of classic novels with gorgeous illustrations, but they actually hold up! They are made of a nice heavy material and I like that they are a chunkier size, easy for baby to turn the pages. Kitchenaid Mini Food Processor - This one was actually a wedding gift, and while I had visions of making homemade sauces and dips for entertaining.... it has quickly become our go to baby food maker. I love being able to quickly puree whatever veggies we are eating for dinner and giving Lil a homemade, organic baby food (for a fraction of the cost of jars and pouches). Speaking of jars and pouches... we have found a few go to brands that are hugely convenient for travel or even just for nights where we are too tired to cook. Lil's current favorite is Earth's Best Organics Sweet Potatoes and Beets. We also love to snack on Happy Baby Organic Teething Wafers Banana Sweet Potato. While Lil loves all of her toys, bath time is definitely her favorite and we love to play with this B. Fish and Splash from B. Toys. Another favorite is the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother... naps would not happen without this gem and we even clip it to the backseat during long car trips. We don't have cable, but we have quite the curated collection of video streaming apps. One that I just found and am so excited to share with you guys is the Noggin Video Subscription. With classics like Blue's Clues and Little Bear, plus plenty of new shows, I think the $5.99/month is well worth it. I'm sure I could keep adding to this list and never really finish... I will post an update to this after we hit the 1 year milestone and see what else we've found. What are your favorite baby products? I just received my first nature diffuser and couldn't wait to share it with you all! I skipped using my MONQ diffusers while pregnant and I sooo missed my zen and vibrant diffusers. Well luckily, now that baby has arrived, MONQ launched a new line of diffusers and I snagged the Ocean blend right away. I love the water and our little one is definitely a water baby, so I was excited to try it!
First, the packaging is gorgeous! This diffuser has a metal casing which is really sleek and comfortable to hold. The aroma of eucalyptus, lime, and tangerine is really light and refreshing. The citrus is uplifting and the eucalyptus gives you a fresh, cooling breath. This will be great all summer but will also carry you into fall when the cold bug or mold allergies starts to get you congested. All the MONQ diffusers are made with natural ingredients and there are two other diffusers in the new nature collection: forest (black spruce, douglas fir, and sandalwood) and mountain (juniper leaf, peppermint, and scotch pine). I cannot wait to give them a try! Try all three nature inspired diffusers or snag your favorite classic blends - click the link below and use code WILDROOTSWELLNESS10 for 10% off your order! Positive thinking has gotten a ton of great press lately, and for good reason. Having a positive outlook not only boosts happiness, but can also have an impact on physical and mental health, productivity and success, energy and sleep, and much more. Easy right? Not for most of us. Choosing to think on the positive side can be difficult especially when we find ourselves in a job that we don't love, a lackluster personal life, or even struggling with depression which is more common than ever. Taking a small amount of time out of each day to meditate on a positive thought is a great way to slowly shift your mindset and start reaping the benefits of positive thinking. Visualizing your intentions, repeating a mantra, or even just focusing intently on your breath are great ways to quiet the negative chatter in your mind and begin to shift your perspective for the day. Aim to start with just 3-5 minutes in the morning before you start your day - this can even be in bed before your feet ever hit the floor! Maybe bedtime is more feasible for you. Take that time to reflect on your day and what you want to change tomorrow. One of my favorite ways to take these mini meditation breaks is to pull a Crazy Sexy Love Note from Kris Carr. These cards are fantastic reminders to be positive, present, and kind to yourself and others. There are tons of great tips on these cards, which are also beautifully illustrated by Lori Portka. One of my favorites is "Be Gentle with Yourself" - a perfect reminder for someone who is pushing herself through grad school, starting a business, and planning a wedding. It is all too easy to be overly critical of myself during this stage in my life and I love taking a peek up at that card (that is conveniently pinned above my desk) and remind myself that I am human and need some love and care too. The lovely folks over at Crazy Sexy Wellness have been kind enough to send one lucky winner their own deck of Crazy Sexy Love Notes! Pretty groovy <3 To enter to win your deck, follow us on Instagram (@wildrootswellness) and tag 2 friends in the comments of our giveaway post. Want a bonus entry?
