While there is no magic cure for all of your ailments, essential oils come pretty close. Whether you are looking to purify your space, heal a cut, assist with digestion, or improve mental clarity - there's an oil for that. Let's dive in with a quick background on how you can use oils: First, the aroma of an essential oil alone can have many healing properties. To use an oil for aromatherapy you would want to place few drops on a cotton pad, in a diffuser, or even onto the top of your yoga mat. Just a few deep breaths through the nose is all it takes to enjoy essential oils this way. When taking breaths of an oil's aroma, the healing properties are picked up with the olfactory nerve which creates a quick and easy solution to many health issues. Second, you can use most oils topically. You will want to use a carrier oil to dilute them down in order to reduce any risk of an allergic reaction or irritation. You can use coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba, or even an all natural, unscented body lotion. Remember, oils are comparable to prescription strength medications in their potency, so dilution is a very important step! You can also place a few drops of oil into your bath water or into a mister with epsom salts and water and use it as a refreshing mist. Lastly, some companies offer oils that are safe for ingestion. I personally do not recommend ingestion of oils as it is difficult to measure reactions when the oils are taken internally, it is becoming a more popular way to use essential oils. Be sure to read all of the safety information the company provides and do your own research before choosing to use oils internally. Are you just getting started with essential oils? I recommend picking up a few basic oils that will help cover common ailments as well as one or two blends that are specific to you. Lavender - great for skin irritation, sleep, and relaxation Peppermint - this is my favorite for tense muscles and headaches, it also works well for nausea/upset stomach Eucalyptus - take a deep breath of eucalyptus for respiratory health Lemon - energizing and refreshing, personally this is also my favorite for nausea Tea Tree - great for irritated skin, acne, dandruff, and itchy bug bites in the summer You can also find wonderful blends from most essential oil companies that will give you more bang for your buck. By letting them blend 3-4 (or more) oils for you, you don't have to pay for all of the ingredients but you still get the healing properties of the combination. GIVEAWAY MONQ Aromatherapy offers the healing properties of essential oils in a breathable diffuser. They have 7 unique blends that each serve a purpose such as "Sleepy MONQ" and "Happy MONQ". Their blends are all natural and the diffusers are recyclable! The newest blend I've tested out is their Vibrant MONQ when is an uplifting blend of lemon, ginger, and spearmint. The flavor is bright and refreshing and the aroma is nice and light. I personally like to use the Vibrant MONQ early to start my day and also for a mid afternoon boost. Previously, I expressed that MONQ diffusers caused a dry mouth sensation but I haven't experienced that with this diffuser which was a pleasant surprise. None of the individual ingredients are too overpowering so don't be turned off by the ginger or spearmint, the blend is smooth and there are subtle notes of all three ingredients. Vibrant is quickly becoming my favorite diffuser. You can use our discount code below for a discount on your purchase of a Vibrant MONQ for yourself!
